A late 17th century polychrome and gilt decorated figure of John the Baptist.
He wears a robe which is gilded and carries a staff with a sheep lying at his feet.

Importantly there on no paint losses to the face. There is a separate wooden stand which is possibly 19th century which the statue stands on. The whole has a fabulous patina, is of a good size and there are no signs of previous restoration. circa 1680-1700
The statue itself measures 30cm tall and 15cm at its widest.
Together with the stand it measures 35cm tall.
