Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Regency sideboard design, prominent in early nineteenth-century Britain, draws heavy influence from classical Greek, Roman, and Egyptian architecture. Key characteristics include symmetry, rich wood veneers such as mahogany, brass hardware motifs like lion masks, and dramatic support details like rope-twist columns or carved paw feet.

Cabinetmakers primarily used solid mahogany alongside high-grade flame mahogany veneers laid over secondary timbers like pine or oak. Decorative accents frequently featured cast brass hardware, mirrored glass panels, and hand-carved architectural details.

Authentic Regency pieces feature hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, original timber shrinkage line variations, and natural patination or oxidisation on brass hardware. Look for characteristic period details such as carved hairy paw feet, lion mask ring handles, and flame mahogany veneer panels.

A Regency sideboard acts as an architectural focal point when set against light neutral walls or modern muted paint palettes. Balance the rich, dark mahogany tone by displaying contemporary artwork above the piece and arranging simple ceramics or modern lighting across the top surface.

Maintain mahogany furniture by dusting regularly with a dry, lint-free cloth and applying a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year. Keep the piece away from direct sunlight, radiators, and moist air to prevent the wood from drying out or the veneers from lifting.
