A lovely mid Victorian period inlaid burr walnut davenport desk. Beautiful burr walnut veneers inset with inlaid stringing in boxwood and ebony and banding in rosewood. With striking Corinthian columns topped by solid brass capitols. The top section, surmounted by a pierced brass gallery, opens to reveal a fitted interior with stationary compartments. Complete with original ink bottles, the lids embossed ''London Patent''. The fall is fitted with its original black leather writing surface complete with embossed gilt tooling to the surrounds. It lifts and opens to access a fitted interior lined in birds eye maple veneers. The body of the davenport with four drawers and 4 dummy drawers to the verso. Finished to the rear so it could be free-standing within a room if desired. All standing on original brass and ceramic castors. Cleaned and waxed in our workshops and now offered for sale in excellent original condition.
