A Coromandel Regency Period Davenport

19th century
Description

Constructed from an attractive figured coromandel to all surfaces, the davenport is raised on square section brass caps and castors, both sides housing four drawers with turned handles, with a large panel of coromandel veneer on the front and rear with crossbanding of the same timber, the sliding top with a three-quarter brass gallery, sloping tooled leather surface, hinged to reveal storage within, accompanied by a sliding pen tray and coromandel-veneered slide accessed from the side.
