On this morning in early Summer, a gentle breeze passes through an open kitchen window. The room partially illuminated by a crisp glow.
Her child scuttles and chatters within a sturdy wooden walker.
Sinding had two passions - Italy and his family. Here, in around 1912, he’s probably depicting his wife, Mia, and child - possibly Eva. Later in life, his walls would be adorned with paintings of his children.
Monogrammed in the lower right and held within a period frame, which is probably original.

Condition: Artwork presents well. Fine craquelure but the paint is stable. Frame with some light wear.

Knud Sinding was a Danish artist well-admired for his landscapes and interiors. He trained under Kristian Zahrtmann (1843-1917) and later at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts.
