A mafrash is a traditional woven storage chest panel or compartment traditionally used by nomadic and village tribes in Persia to transport household goods on pack animals.

Authentic pieces are typically constructed from handspun sheeps wool with natural vegetable and insect-derived dyes, woven on a wool or cotton foundation.

Authenticity is determined by examining the handspun wool characteristics, natural colour variations, asymmetrical knotting or weave structure, and organic wear consistent with age.

These versatile textile panels are frequently mounted and framed as wall art, displayed on tables, or utilised as distinctive decorative accents in eclectic or traditional spaces.

Preservation requires regular gentle vacuuming without a beater bar, keeping the textile out of direct sunlight to prevent fading, and avoiding excessive moisture.
