French Bronze Nude Maiden Bitten By A Snake, Devaulx C1880

Late 19th century French Bronze sculpture by Francois Theodore Devaulx (1808-1870) modelled as a young nude maiden picking flowers, while a snake bites her left heel. Entitled ‘La Monsure du Serpent’ (Snake Bite), signed ‘Devaulx’ to base and with foundry mark ‘Gautier Editeurs’
 
Excellent condition, moderate age related wear to patina on maidens back, C1880.
