Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This 1920 Art Deco bedroom suite comprises four painted wooden pieces finished in a muted grey colour scheme. The ensemble includes two wardrobes with linear brass handles and gently curved tops, a dressing table with an attached mirror, and a French bed dating from 1860 featuring an upholstered headboard and footboard in a cream patterned fabric with streamlined frames and turned feet. The surfaces show a painted finish with subtle wear consistent with age, complementing the geometric styling. Suitability for contemporary interiors includes placement in a principal bedroom or guest room to provide coordinated storage, a dressing space, and sleeping arrangements. The largest piece measures 170 cm high, 90 cm wide, and 60 cm deep, offering practical proportions for domestic settings requiring period character and matching furniture.

FAQs

Art Deco bedroom furniture, prominent during the 1920s and 1930s, is defined by geometric shapes, streamlined contours, bold vertical or horizontal accents, and stylized hardware.

Pieces from this period commonly utilised solid hardwoods combined with decorative veneers, bent plywood, glass mirrors, woven upholstery fabrics, and cast metal or Bakelite handles.

Authentic period furniture typically features machine-assisted joinery such as dovetail drawer joints, original geometric pull handles, flush-fitting doors, and period-appropriate panel construction.

To integrate a suite into modern schemes, balance the structured furniture silhouettes with neutral wall paint, subtle textured floor coverings, and modern minimalist lighting fixtures.

Maintain painted vintage surfaces by dusting regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth and avoiding harsh chemical cleansers or excess water that could compromise the finish.
