We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This small Georgian mahogany chest of drawers from around 1780 displays a dark brown timber finish with a rich polished grain. The rectangular upper surface features rounded corners and a moulded edge, positioned above two short drawers and three long drawers of graduated height. Each drawer front contains cockbeaded edges, decorative batwing brass backplate handles, and central brass keyhole escutcheons. The case stands flanked by reeded quarter columns and terminates in short shaped bracket feet beneath an ogee base moulding. Measuring 76 cm high, 82.5 cm wide, and 45.5 cm deep, this compact piece fits easily into smaller bedrooms, hallways, or living spaces as a functional bedside or accent storage unit. Its traditional proportions complement both period interiors and contemporary home settings while providing practical surface and drawer space.

Georgian chests of drawers typically date from 1714 to 1837 and are characterised by symmetrical proportions, classic mahogany or walnut construction, and refined brass hardware.

High-grade solid or veneered mahogany was predominantly utilised alongside hand-cut dovetail joints, pine or oak secondary timber for drawer linings, and cast brass handles.

Authentic pieces feature hand-sawn timber marks, slightly irregular hand-cut dovetail joints on drawers, original cast brass backplates with steel screws, and natural timber shrinkage over time.

A compact Georgian chest functions effectively as a hallway accent or bedside storage unit, contrasting dark polished timber against neutral modern wall palettes.

Position the piece away from direct heat sources and sunlight, dust regularly with a soft dry cloth, and apply a high-quality beeswax polish annually to preserve the original finish.
