This Spanish brass pour-on from 1900 is a distinctive Victorian Country vessel fashioned from warm, polished brass with a gleaming golden finish and natural surface patination showing age. The traditional design includes an angular faceted top handle, a long narrow pouring spout, a smaller chained cap lid on the opposite shoulder, and a stable flared pedestal base. Standing 27 cm high by 18 cm wide and 18 cm deep, this practical container easily sits on a study bookshelf or display cabinet as a decorative rustic farmhouse accent. Homeowners use the piece to serve wine in traditional style directly to the mouth without lip contact, or simply display the metallic form within a kitchen or living space.

These vessels were traditionally used to store and pour lamp oil or liquid lubricants for machinery and domestic lighting during the 18th and 19th centuries.

Most traditional examples were crafted from sheet brass, copper, or pewter, featuring soldered seams, cast handles, and attached cap chains to keep the spouts secure.

Authentic historic pieces often exhibit visible brazed or soldered joinery, slight variations from hand hammering, and natural surface wear around the handle and base.

Position the piece on a kitchen shelf, sideboard, or mantelpiece alongside botanical elements or ceramics to add warm metallic texture and historical contrast.

Wipe gently with a soft dry cloth to remove dust, and avoid harsh chemical abrasives that can strip the aged patina or damage soft soldered joints.
