This pair of 19th-century Tibetan ceremonial monks ewers and yak butter tea pots dates from c1820 in the Tibetan traditional style. The vessels combine copper and brass construction with a warm brown finish, featuring intricate repousse bosses, scrolling motifs, a lotus finial, a snow lion lid, and a dragon spout. Visible details include a flared circular foot, a looped handle, and elaborate surface carving across the metal bodies. The larger vessel stands 18 cm high, 23 cm wide, and 12 cm deep, with the set weighing 1 kg combined. These ritual objects serve well on a sideboard top in a living room, dining room, or hallway to bring historical character to an interior. They add visual interest when displayed together or placed separately as decorative accents on a tabletop or display shelf.

A Tibetan ceremonial monks ewer is a traditional metal vessel used in Buddhist monasteries to serve tea or perform ritual libations during religious assemblies and ceremonies.

These vessels were typically constructed from hand-hammered copper, brass, or bronze, often featuring applied metalwork, repousse decoration, and cast mythical beast details such as dragon spouts and snow lion lids.

Authentic 19th-century examples display hand-formed metal seams, hand-chased ornamentation, irregular hammer marks, and natural patination or oxidisation consistent with age and ritual use.

These sculptural metal vessels function as focal decorative objects when displayed on bookshelf alcoves, sideboards, or mantelpieces in globally inspired or eclectic interiors.

Keep the metalwork dry and clean using a soft, lint-free cloth, avoiding abrasive chemicals or polishing agents that could remove the original aged patina and historical surface features.
