Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This nineteenth-century Regency ironstone jug stands in an oriental shape with a scalloped rim, a gilded handle, and a polished glaze finish. Rich cobalt blue and iron red polychrome floral motifs decorate the surface alongside applied white floral relief details and gold leaf highlights. The exterior displays a schoolhouse pattern with detailed botanical designs wrapping around the body and spout. Measuring 25x20x15 cm, this pitcher serves practical display uses or holds fresh cut flowers. Position this piece on a dining sideboard or open shelving unit to bring traditional English country house character to a kitchen or living room interior. The vessel functions well as a decorative accent or as a functional pitcher during family gatherings and dinner parties.

Patented in 1813 by Charles James Mason in Staffordshire, ironstone china is a dense, durable ceramic created to imitate imported Chinese porcelain. Masons became renowned for bold Imari-inspired patterns, rich colour palettes, and elaborate handle designs during the Regency period.

Ironstone was produced using clay mixed with slag, flint, and ironstone dust, fired at high temperatures to achieve strength. Decorations typically combined transfer-printed outlines with hand-painted enamel colours and burnished gold leaf gilding.

Authentic early nineteenth-century pieces frequently feature stamped or impressed makers marks on the base, such as Masons Patent Ironstone China. They are characterised by heavy visual weight, dense white ceramic bodies, hand-applied enamels, and distinctive handles.

An antique ironstone jug functions as an impactful centrepiece on a sideboard, console table, or mantelpiece. It can be displayed independently as a decorative object or styled with dried foliage to add historical colour to modern spaces.

Clean gently using lukewarm water and a soft cloth with mild detergent, avoiding abrasive sponges. Antique gilded ceramics should never be placed in a dishwasher, as heat and detergents degrade delicate surface gilding.
