Dimensions:

Height – 114cm/ Width - 106cm/ Depth - 52.5cm

.

CONDITION REPORT:

In good antique condition overall, with wear consistent with age and use. All drawers run well and are ready for everyday use. There is some minor fading present, along with general surface scratches and marks. Minor cracks can be seen to the top and sides, likely the result of age-related shrinkage in the timber, as is common with period pieces. This is not structural and does not detract from the overall appeal of the piece. There is also some small loss to the veneer along the top front. Overall, a lovely piece.

Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Developed during the 19th century, a Victorian bow front chest features a convex curved facade designed to soften the angular lines of traditional bedroom furniture while maximizing internal storage capacity.

Craftsmen typically utilised solid mahogany frames paired with flame mahogany veneers, hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, turned wood knobs, and fitted brass keyhole escutcheons.

Authentic pieces generally feature hand-sawn drawer bottoms, slightly irregular dovetail jointing, natural shrinkage marks in the timber, and period-correct iron or brass locks.

Position the piece in a modern hallway or bedroom as a primary storage unit, contrasting its warm timber tones against contemporary wall colours and minimal lighting fixtures.

Maintain the polished timber by dusting regularly with a dry microfibre cloth, keeping the item away from direct heat sources, and applying a natural beeswax polish annually.
