We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

Stick barometers evolved from early marine barometers into refined household instruments during the nineteenth century, becoming essential scientific and decorative objects in middle and upper-class homes.

They were typically constructed using dense secondary timbers like pine or mahogany as a carcase, overlaid with decorative veneers such as burr walnut, and fitted with ivory or bone scale plates and glass tubing containing mercury.

Authenticity is identified through hand-engraved vernier scales, traditional mercury-filled glass tubes with cistern covers, period-appropriate cabinet construction, and natural age-related patina on the wood and brass components.

It can be mounted on a prominent wall in a hallway or study as a vertical architectural accent, pairing well with contemporary minimalist decor to create a focal point of historic contrast.

Keep the instrument away from direct sunlight and strong heat sources to prevent veneer cracking, and consult a professional restorer if the mercury column requires maintenance or relocation.
