Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Art Deco emerged in France during the 1910s and flourished internationally throughout the 1920s and 1930s, characterised by sleek geometric shapes, streamlined forms, and the use of opulent materials such as burr walnut, chrome, and exotic veneers.

Art Deco furniture makers frequently utilised rich timber veneers like burr walnut, mahogany, and macassar ebony applied over solid secondary woods, often featuring curved silhouettes, waterfall edges, and integrated hardware made from brass or catalin.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit period-specific construction techniques such as dovetail joints in drawers, traditional shellac or French polished finishes, makers stamps or badges, and distinct symmetrical grain patterns achieved through book-matching veneers.

An Art Deco headboard functions as a strong focal point in a modern bedroom and pairs well with neutral walls, minimalist bedding, polished brass accents, and subtle lighting that highlights the intricate wood grain.

Burr walnut furniture should be kept out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources to prevent the veneer from drying out or cracking, using only a soft, dry cloth for dusting and high-quality beeswax periodically to nourish the wood.
