Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Victorian country kitchen dresser originates from the English West Country and dates to 1850. Constructed from pine with a natural finish, the piece exhibits warm golden timber tones beneath a protective clear glaze. The upper section comprises a pair of glazed doors enclosing three internal shelves, crowned by a decorative dentil moulding along the top cornice. Below the cabinet sits a base section fitted with two side-by-side drawers over a configuration of lower panelled cupboards. Hardware across the furniture includes small round white porcelain knobs on each drawer and cupboard door. The entire construction measures 202 cm high, 142 cm wide, and 52 cm deep, offering substantial storage capacity within a compact footprint. This traditional storage unit functions well in contemporary kitchen, dining room, or pantry settings for organising tableware, crockery, and pantry goods while adding rustic farmhouse character to the interior space.

FAQs

A West Country dresser is a regional variant of traditional British storage furniture, characterised by solid pine or oak construction with lower drawers and cupboards supporting an upper glazed or open shelving section.

Traditional country dressers are primarily constructed from solid pine or deal, incorporating hand-cut dovetail joints, tongue-and-groove backboards, glass panes, and turned porcelain or wooden knobs.

Authentic period dressers exhibit hand-planed timber surfaces, square-headed iron nails or wooden dowels, original ceramic or brass fittings, and natural wood shrinkage around panel joins and door frames.

Position the piece in a dining room or kitchen to serve as statement storage, displaying contemporary ceramics or glassware behind the glazed doors to contrast warm wood tones with modern design.

Dust surfaces regularly with a soft cloth and apply a natural clear beeswax polish periodically along the grain to protect the timber without darkening the natural wood finish.
