An 18th-century oak dresser base is a heavy, low wooden storage unit originally utilised in domestic kitchens and dining spaces for food preparation and tableware storage.

These pieces were typically constructed from solid English oak using traditional joinery methods such as mortise and tenon joints, hand-cut dovetails for drawers, and pegged frames.

Authenticity is identified through hand-planed surfaces, irregular timber boards, period-appropriate iron or brass hardware, hand-forged fixings, and natural patination accumulated over centuries.

It can be integrated into contemporary spaces as a functional sideboard in a dining room, a media console in a living area, or a focal point in a hallway to contrast modern minimalist architecture.

Preservation involves maintaining stable indoor humidity levels, avoiding direct sunlight, dusting with a dry microfibre cloth, and occasionally applying natural beeswax to nourish the timber.
