FAQs

Mid-century British watercolour painting often focused on topographical scenes, industrial towns, and rural landscapes, capturing atmospheric light and weather with loose, expressive washes.

These works are typically executed with water-based pigments on heavy-weight watercolour paper or artist-grade board, often framed behind glass to protect the delicate pigments.

Authenticity is assessed by examining the artists signature, paper ageing characteristics, pigment composition under magnification, and framing materials consistent with the mid-20th century.

Pair traditional landscape paintings with simple, slim wooden or neutral frames to balance classic subject matter with clean, modern interior aesthetics.

Protect watercolours from direct sunlight to prevent fading, maintain stable indoor humidity levels, and ensure professional framing uses acid-free mount boards.
