FAQs

Mid-century British watercolour painting often focused on rural landscapes, topographical scenes, and coastal views, continuing a strong national tradition of plein-air painting.

These works generally utilise watercolour pigments on heavy-weight paper or card, frequently mounted behind glass and housed in wooden or gilt frames.

Authenticity is assessed by examining the artist signature, paper ageing characteristics, pigment absorption, and the presence of period framing materials.

Original watercolours integrate well into traditional and contemporary spaces alike, often displayed in gallery walls or as focal points above sideboards using conservation framing.

Watercolours must be protected from direct sunlight to prevent fading, kept away from high humidity to avoid foxing, and glazed with UV-filtering glass.
