Nineteenth-century printmaking involved creating intaglio prints using metal plates treated with acid to produce fine lines, often hand-finished or published in limited editions by galleries.

Traditional prints from this era were typically created using high-rag content paper, copper or steel etching plates, and specialized printing inks.

Authentication relies on examining plate marks, paper ageing characteristics, publisher details, typography, and ink deposition visible under magnification.

Antique prints can be integrated by using simple, conservation-grade framing and pairing them with neutral mounts to bridge traditional subjects with modern aesthetics.

Preservation requires framing with acid-free materials, keeping them out of direct sunlight to prevent fading, and maintaining stable humidity levels.
