Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Regency furniture, spanning roughly from 1811 to 1820, is characterised by classical proportions, classical revival motifs inspired by Greek, Roman, and Egyptian archaeology, and a sophisticated use of exotic veneers such as rosewood and mahogany.

Traditional chiffoniers were constructed from solid secondary timbers like oak or pine, heavily veneered with high-figure woods like rosewood. They frequently incorporated turned columns, brass gallery rails, and pleated silk fabric backing behind brass wire grilles on the door panels.

Authenticity is determined by inspecting the timber grain, hand-cut dovetail joints in internal drawers, hand-turned brass fittings, and traditional secondary woods such as deal or oak behind the primary veneers. Natural oxidisation and patination on the polish also indicate age.

A dark wood chiffonier provides functional storage and surface display space, anchoring a room when paired with modern neutral walls, contemporary minimalist art, and simple ceramic accessories to balance the historical weight.

Rosewood furniture should be kept out of direct sunlight to prevent the rich reddish-brown tone from fading. Maintain a stable indoor humidity level and clean only with a soft, dry microfibre cloth, avoiding modern silicone-based polishes.
