Nineteenth-century mahogany furniture typically features rich, dark timber grains, classical proportions, and robust construction methods that reflect the refined tastes of the period.

Authentic pieces are crafted from solid mahogany and secondary timbers like pine or oak, featuring hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawer construction and traditional brass hardware.

Authentication relies on examining hand-dovetailed joints, irregular timber shrinkage, period-correct brass fixings, and overall patination consistent with age and use.

Pairing this traditional piece with minimalist modern surroundings creates a striking focal point, allowing the rich timber tones to ground the design scheme.

Maintain the timber by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources, applying occasional microcrystalline wax, and avoiding silicone-based polishes.
