We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

Bowfront chests emerged during the late 18th century, particularly within Georgian and Regency furniture design, featuring a convex curved front that maximised internal storage while offering a softer visual profile than standard rectangular cabinets.

Authentic period pieces typically utilise solid timbers such as mahogany, oak, or pine carcasses, constructed with hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawer boxes and framed using traditional mortise and tenon joinery.

Authentication involves inspecting the secondary timbers inside the drawer linings, checking for hand-cut dovetails, observing signs of natural oxidisation and wear, and examining the type of fixings and brass hardware used.

A painted finish allows the piece to serve as a versatile focal point, contrasting effectively against neutral plastered walls or complementing layered, textured schemes in living spaces and bedrooms.

Preservation requires maintaining stable indoor humidity levels away from direct heat sources, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners, and dusting regularly with a soft, dry cloth to protect the painted surface.
