Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

Pine was historically used as a secondary or primary timber for utilitarian furniture in country homes and farmhouses, prized for its accessibility and workability before gaining appreciation for its warm patina.

Authentic period pieces typically feature solid pine construction assembled with hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawers, tongue-and-groove backboards, and traditional iron or brass hardware.

Authenticity is identified by examining the tool marks, hand-cut dovetailing, irregular grain patterns, historical oxidation of the wood, and appropriate period fixings rather than modern screws.

An antique pine chest provides warmth and textural contrast, working effectively as a grounding element in contemporary, minimalist, or rustic spaces to balance sleek finishes.

Preservation involves maintaining stable indoor humidity levels, avoiding direct sunlight to prevent fading, and treating the wood periodically with traditional beeswaxes rather than modern silicone polishes.
