Traditional oil paintings from this period typically feature rich texture, layered pigment application, and realist or impressionist representations of landscapes, seascapes, or portraits.

Historic paintings were usually executed on stretched canvas or wooden panels using linseed-oil-based pigments, housed in hand-carved, gessoed, and gilded wooden frames.

Authenticity is determined by examining canvas weave, craquelure in the paint layer, artist signatures, stretcher frame construction, and inspection under ultraviolet light for restoration.

An antique painting adds historical depth and character when hung against neutral walls, paired with modern minimalist furnishings to create a balanced transitional contrast.

Preservation requires maintaining stable temperature and humidity levels, keeping the artwork out of direct sunlight, and consulting a professional conservator for surface cleaning.
