FAQs

French provincial furniture originates from the rural regions of France, combining classical Parisian design elements with local craftsmanship, rustic materials, and practical functionality.

Solid oak was the predominant timber used in regional French cabinetry due to its strength and availability, frequently paired with hand- forged iron or brass hardware.

Authentic pieces typically feature traditional joinery such as hand-cut dovetails, wooden pegs, natural timber ageing, and distinctive regional carving motifs.

An antique oak sideboard can be paired with minimalist decor, modern art, or sleek metal lamps to create a balanced contrast between old and new design elements.

Antique oak should be dusted regularly with a dry cloth and occasionally treated with traditional beeswax to nourish the timber and maintain its natural lustre.
