Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Arts and Crafts oak sideboard, dating from 1890, exhibits a warm brown timber finish with an even patina and visible grain. The piece comprises a spindled gallery top with supporting brackets, a flat upper surface, four panelled cupboard doors fitted with circular iron ring pull handles, and a lower pot board shelf supported by turned upright pillars and feet. The woodwork incorporates raised rectangular mouldings on the cupboard doors and structural framing along the base and upper gallery. It measures 191 cm long, 64 cm deep and 142 cm tall. Designed for everyday functionality in an English country house interior, this sideboard suits placement in a dining room or living space. The upper shelf and lower pot board offer display and storage surfaces for decorative collections, tableware or books. The enclosed cupboards provide concealed storage space behind panelled doors. Compatible with period or contemporary domestic settings, the cabinet arrives ready for home placement with its original metal hardware intact.

The Arts and Crafts movement, which peaked between 1880 and 1920, emphasised honest craftsmanship, simple geometric forms, and natural materials. Furniture from this era avoids excessive ornamentation, focusing instead on visible joinery, prominent wood grain, and hand-forged metal fittings.

Pieces from this period were primarily constructed from native hardwoods, most notably quarter-sawn English oak. Hardware typically consisted of hand-crafted wrought iron or hammered copper, showcasing raw metal textures rather than polished finishes.

Look for structural details such as mortise and tenon joints, exposed pegs, and quarter-sawn oak displaying distinctive ray fleck patterns. Hardware is usually substantial and surface-mounted, and the overall proportions favour sturdy, architectural silhouettes.

Pair the rich wood tones with neutral wall palettes, such as warm off-white or soft sage green. Balance the historic cabinetry by displaying contemporary ceramics, minimalist glassware, or abstract artwork on the top surface.

Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year along the grain. Keep the item away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent the timber from drying, warping, or fading.
