A bow front chest features a convex, curved front facade that became popular during the late Georgian and Regency periods, offering a softer aesthetic and increased internal capacity compared to flat-fronted furniture.

Traditional chests were typically constructed from hardwoods such as mahogany, oak, walnut, or ash, featuring solid timber carcases, dovetailed drawer construction, and secondary pine or oak linings.

Authenticity is identified through hand-cut dovetail joints, handmade iron or brass fixings, signs of age-related timber shrinkage, and traditional tool marks on the interior secondary woods.

A painted chest acts as a versatile focal point in a hallway or bedroom, styled best with minimalist brass accessories, a simple ceramic vase, or a framed mirror hung directly above.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and clean periodically using a damp cloth with mild soap, avoiding harsh chemical solvents or excessive moisture to protect the painted finish.
