FAQs

The Arts and Crafts movement emerged in the late 19th century, prioritising traditional craftsmanship, visible construction, and high-quality natural materials over mass-produced industrial items.

Makers during this period frequently utilized solid timbers and veneers such as mahogany, oak, and walnut, often complemented by hand-beaten copper, brass, or iron hardware.

Authentic pieces typically feature hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawer construction, original hardware with natural patina, and solid secondary woods inside the framing.

Pairing historical wooden furniture with minimalist modern decor creates a balanced focal point that highlights the texture and rich colour of the timber against neutral walls.

Maintain the finish by dusting regularly with a soft, dry cloth and occasionally applying high-quality beeswax, avoiding direct sunlight and excessive humidity to prevent wood splitting.
