This Regency mahogany chest of drawers displays a bowed front profile finished in a rich brown flame mahogany veneer with fine dark stringing along the edges. The piece stands on bracket feet and incorporates a pull-out brush slide positioned directly above the top drawer, fitted with two small brass rings. Three graduated long drawers run down the front, each centered with a keyhole escutcheon and mounted with paired circular brass drop ring handles held within decorative stamped backplates. Additional mouldings run horizontally beneath the top surface and frame the drawer tiers. Measuring 91 cm high, 107 cm wide, and 36 cm deep, the chest offers practical storage capacity while occupying a compact footprint in a living space. It functions well as a bedroom chest for clothing, a dressing room storage unit, an office organizer for stationery, or a hallway sideboard for linens. The traditional timber grain and classic hardware integrate easily into both period and contemporary interiors as a functional surface and storage drawer set.

The Regency style in Britain spanned roughly from 1811 to 1830, characterised by neoclassical proportions, clean lines, and fine wood veneers. Pieces often feature subtle brass inlays, curved bowfront or serpentine fronts, and elegant tapered or bracket feet.

Cabinetmakers primarily used solid mahogany and rich flame mahogany veneers for the exterior, paired with cast brass handles and escutcheons. Secondary woods for internal drawer construction commonly included pine, oak, or cedar.

Authentic pieces feature hand-cut dovetail joints, slight variations in hand-planed secondary timbers, and natural patination around original drawer pulls. Drawer bottoms in early nineteenth-century furniture usually run front-to-back with pine or oak drawer linings.

Place the piece against neutral or deeply painted walls to create contrast, layering contemporary artwork or an oversized gilded mirror directly above. Combine the rich wood tones with modern brass lighting or ceramics to achieve a balanced, eclectic aesthetic.

Dust regularly using a dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to nourish the timber. Keep the furniture away from direct sunlight, damp areas, and radiators to prevent timber shrinkage or veneer lifting.
