A tetsubin is a traditional Japanese cast iron kettle featuring a pouring spout, a lid, and a handle crossing over the top, historically used for boiling water for tea.

These vessels are traditionally crafted from poured cast iron, often treated with an interior coating or left raw to enrich boiling water with dietary iron.

Authentic pieces typically feature hand-poured iron textures, maker foundry marks on the underside or lid interior, and traditional hobnail or textured exterior patterns.

It can be displayed as a sculptural accent piece on open wooden shelving, a coffee table tray, or a kitchen counter to add industrial texture.

Keep the interior completely dry after use to prevent corrosion, avoiding harsh detergents and wiping the exterior with a soft, dry cloth.
