The Georgian style spans the reigns of the four British monarchs named George, characterised by classical proportions, sophisticated cabinet-making techniques, and the prominent use of imported mahogany.

Pieces from this era typically feature solid timber frames, hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawer construction, oak or pine secondary woods, and cast brass hardware.

Authentication relies on examining hand-cut dovetailing, timber shrinkage patterns, old tool marks, historical patina, and the structural integrity of the secondary woods used inside the carcass.

Placing traditional brown furniture within contemporary spaces adds textural warmth and historical contrast, often balanced with neutral walls and minimalist surrounding decor.

Maintain stable indoor humidity levels, keep the piece away from direct sunlight and heat sources, and treat the timber periodically with traditional beeswax rather than modern silicon polishes.
