Victorian furniture design spans the reign of Queen Victoria, encompassing a revival of historical styles alongside meticulous craftsmanship, ornate marquetry, and rich cabinet timbers such as mahogany and walnut.

These pieces typically feature solid mahogany or satinwood frames with finely figured veneer panels, intricate boxwood and ebony stringing, hand-cut dovetail joints, and cast brass hardware.

Authenticity is determined by examining hand-cut dovetailing, timber shrinkage patterns, old secondary woods on drawer linings, maker stamps or paper labels, and the natural patina of the polish.

Pairing historical timber furniture with minimalist modern surroundings creates a sophisticated contrast, allowing the intricate marquetry and warm wood tones to serve as a focal point.

Maintain stable indoor humidity and temperature levels, keep the piece away from direct sunlight and heat sources, and treat the surface periodically with traditional beeswax rather than modern silicon polishes.
