How to move a mirrored sideboard safely?

What is the best way to clean old mirrors?

Spray glass cleaner onto a soft cloth rather than directly onto the mirror. Liquid running down the glass can seep behind the glazing beads. Buff the surface gently to remove smears. Leave original dark spots alone, as moisture will worsen the degradation.

I have noticed that the carved details on the doors seem a bit dusty and dull compared to the top surface. Should I use a liquid polish to brighten them up?

Avoid liquid spray polishes on carved sections. They build up in the deep crevices and eventually turn into a sticky white residue that attracts even more dust. Take a soft bristle brush and gently sweep the dust out of the carving. If the wood looks dry, apply a very thin coat of clear beeswax with a cloth, then buff it out with a clean shoe brush.
