Georgian Antiques has dated this Chippendale Mahogany Chest on Chest to the 18th Century.
With a configuration of two short over three further graduating drawers, each retaining its original escutcheons and gilded swan neck handles with elegant but simple back plates. The secretaire drawer opens to reveal a well fitted interior with pigeon holes and various drawers with neat gilded axehead drops. In the center is a small inlaid door with two inlaid panels each side, there is a small brass pin on the inside – when pulled it releases the panels. Beneath the top section is a moulding and, in the bottom, three large full-length drawers. Beneath the bottom drawer is further moulding and the chest stands on four massive shaped bracket feet. The chest retains its original colour and patination.
