Description

Fine Quality Early Victorian Rosewood Roll Top Desk. The top having a ballister brass gallery and a half round moulded edge. The cylinder fall having a panel within a moulded frame with turned knob handles. The interior having pull out leather lined writing slide with handle apertures. Under 4 satinwood fronted mahogany lined drawers with knob handles having 8 pigeon holes above. When the cylinder is closed it locks the drawers in the pedestals with a brass system by Chubb & Son. Pins in the cylinder hold down rods in the pedestals to hold the drawers closed. The pedestals each having 4 mahogany lined drawers with knob handles and moulded outlines. A scrolled end pediment above the kneehole incorporating the key hole. Both pedestals with a plinth base and hidden castors. The panelled back is polished.
