A charming scene of a family ''bringing in the catch'' showing figures outside a cottage, man pullng in the boat with his dog watching by his side. Housed in a modern moulded frame. The size overall is 87cm x104 cm whilst the painting is 69.5cm x 90.5cm

James Ward RA (23 October 1769 – 17 November 1859) was an English painter, particularly of animals.
 
 
James Ward was one of the outstanding artists of the day, his singular style and great skill set him above most of his contemporaries, markedly influencing the growth of British art. Regarded as one of the great animal painters of his time, James produced history paintings, portraits, landscapes and genre.Ward started painting his own compositions around 1790 and, at first, was greatly influenced stylistically by his brother-in-law, the artist George Morland.
