FAQs

A Chinese hanging scroll is a traditional form of displaying artwork on vertical textiles, mounted on paper or silk and designed to be hung on a wall for contemplation.

Traditional hanging scrolls are constructed using silk, Xuan paper, wooden dowels at the base, and sometimes decorative brocade borders.

Scrolls should be kept away from direct sunlight and high humidity to prevent fading and mould growth, and they are traditionally rolled loosely for storage rather than left continuously exposed.

An antique scroll functions well as a minimalist focal point on a neutral wall, allowing its verticality and intricate details to command attention without clutter.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit natural aging on the paper or silk, traditional mounting techniques, artist seals, and authentic calligraphy rather than modern print reproductions.
