.

DIMENSIONS:

Height – 98cm / Width – 111cm / Depth – 53cm

.

CONDITION REPORT:

In good antique condition throughout with some signs of age. There is surface wear in places including age-related marks and scratches to the top, sides and front (pictured), also stains to the top (pictured). The drawer's beading is missing on the sides of each drawer (pictured), however this doesn’t affect the overall integrity of the product. The Georgian mahogany chest of drawers remains structurally solid and sound, with most of the drawers running well (top right slightly stiff at first pull). Overall, a clean example.

Our carpenter inspects, repairs, and restores our items, so you can have full confidence that what you buy from us is ready for your home!

We ask that you take the time to look at all the photos as they form part of the description and condition report of the item.

Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Georgian style furniture, spanning the reigns of George I through George IV, is characterised by classical proportions, symmetry, and the transition from walnut to imported mahogany as the primary timber.

Cabinet makers predominantly used solid mahogany and secondary softwoods like deal or pine for drawer linings and carcases, often incorporating hand-cut dovetails and brass drop handles.

Authenticity is identified through hand-cut dovetail joints, irregular hand-planed drawer surfaces, oxidised brass hardware, and the use of native secondary timbers inside the structure.

Pairing the rich wood tones with contemporary artwork and minimalist lighting creates a balanced contrast between historical warmth and modern design.

Preservation involves maintaining stable indoor humidity levels away from direct heat sources and occasionally applying natural beeswax to nourish the wood grain.
