A magnificent quality mahogany and inlaid pedestal desk. Of the finest quality, it boasts nine mahogany lined drawers each inlaid with banding, cock beaded with solid ebony, with all original handles, and working 4-lever brass locks by Hobbs & Co, London. I can''t believe there''s no makers name but it does bear the retailers name of G Rogers, Boscombe who were based by the south coast during the late 19th century.
The top, of inverted breakfront form, now re-lined with a top quality black hide, tooled in gilt and blind embossing to create three separate panels. The top left and right drawers have original adjustable compartments and the whole stands on original castors.
