Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Regency French Chateau style painted and parcel gilt carved wood five-foot bed is presented. The carved pine frame shows original cream painted decoration set off by parcel gilding, fluted rails, and turned legs with carved detail. An arched floral tapestry upholstered headboard displays floral swags against a pale cream ground, complemented by a fluted footboard and upholstered red patterned pillows. The 123 cm high, 156 cm wide, 200 cm deep French king size bed accommodates a deep king size mattress. Placed in a master bedroom or guest suite, it serves as a statement sleeping platform suited to period interiors.

FAQs

Gilded timber should be dusted gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth without liquid cleaners, while antique fabric panels require vacuuming using a low-suction soft brush attachment.

A French period bed frame functions as a central focal point, best paired with minimalist modern linens, understated bedside lighting, and neutral wall colours to highlight its detailed woodwork.

Authentic pieces feature hand-carved joinery, natural wear to the gilded highlights exposing underlying bole or wood, and traditional upholstery attachment methods around the headboard frame.

Parcel gilt furniture is typically constructed from carved hardwoods, such as beech or oak, prepared with gesso, painted in muted tones, and selectively detailed with gold leaf application.

Louis XVI style bed frames feature classical symmetry, straight lines, fluted columns, and motifs inspired by Greco-Roman antiquity, often finished with paint or gilding.
