Georgian Print Dancing Dogs

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Prometheus Antiques

A fine Georgian period stipple engraving titled Dancing Dogs. The print is engraved by T Gaugain after the original painting by George Morland and was published around 1790. The print has some condition issues around the edges with tears but the colours are bright and clear. The frame is a later nineteenth century one from when the print would have been reframed, it is in good condition with original gilding and some areas of repair. The mount does not cover the print edges rather unusually. The whole is a good example of a Georgian print of a highly desirable subject from a famous original work now in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.

Overall sizes in inches including frame: 24 ¾ by 29 ¼
