Description

An early lightly distressed Antique Kuba Kelleh (Kelleh meaning long format) with stunning colours from the mid to late 19th century, the design in the main field is a fascinating array of geometric motifs, a crisply well drawn pattern and on the rarer ivory background and border. Elegant minor border of vine and leaf design, along with the Kufic larger graphic border. Early dyes have been used on this wonderful tribal Kelleh carpet.

With the age of this carpet approximately over 150 years old, some low scattered wear and old repairs are visible. It has a couple of old patches which have been repaired many years ago, but are structurally strong and the colour match is good. The fringes and sides have been tidied up and it is ready to add an abundance of character to the floor. Supplied with our underlay this would be secure and durable floor art.
