A beautiful and very fine antique Isfahan rug, woven in the fine workshops of Isfahan in the first 1/4 of the 20th Century and in exceptional original condition. We can see a wonderful variety of dyes used on this rug and what is known as ''Abrash'' which is the obvious changes in dye across the rug in the pale blues and deep red/purple dyes.  This gives an antique rug enormous character, and something modern weavers try and replicate.  Isfahan produced some of the finest rugs in the world, weaving small rugs, pictorial rugs and vase designs such as this elegant piece.  The scrolling border floral design has been woven with immense skill, this was clearly a very accomplished weaver to produce this design with such execution.The deep reds, purples and pinks for the flowers are intense and vibrant if they were woven yesterday, the lilacs and pale blues are also exquisite dyes, a real feast for the eyes!
