The undersides bearing Victorian ‘kite’ registration marks . Produced to reflect the fashionable taste for ‘Egyptomania’ and the desire to reflect the discoveries of the ancient Kingdom and perhaps the victory of Nelson in the ‘Battle of the Nile’ against Napoleon’s navy.
