Title: "Early Morning". Runswick Bay, North Yorkshire.

Signed. Oil on canvas.

Titled on an old label verso with the artist's name and address.

Exhibited at The Royal Academy in 1902.

Size: 16"x 24". Framed size: 25 1/2"x 23 1/2".

Very good atmospheric marine painting.

Contained in it's good original gilt frame.

Now painting and frame cleaned.

Edward Thomas Jones.

A landscape painter who lived and worked in Leeds, Jones was sometimes known as 'the policeman artist'. He was also the Sergeant-Mace of the City of Leeds (the Mayor's Mace-bearer), and there are photographs of him in this capacity in 1927 on the LEODIS website. Jones exhibited his work at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool, the Royal Academy and the Royal Cambrian Academy as well as in Leeds.
