A superb quality Regency rosewood Davenport probably by Gillows. Raised on turned and reeded bun feet. The davenport has four, mahogany lined, drawers and a slide to the left side and dummy drawers, a slide and pen drawer to the right. The top section slides forward to allow for ease of use and the leather lined writing surface opens to reveal an interior of flame mahogany drawers. The piece is topped with a rosewood gallery with baluster and scroll supports. In very good and original condition, with original castors, working J.Braham locks and good colour and waxed patina. 860mm high, 510mm wide and 570mm deep. English. Circa 1830.
