We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

FAQs

A credenza is a type of low cabinet or sideboard that gained immense popularity in Victorian Britain during the mid-to-late 19th century, frequently used in formal dining rooms and parlours for displaying decorative items and storing fine tableware.

These pieces typically feature a construction of pine or oak carcases veneered with highly figured burr walnut, often embellished with intricate boxwood and fruitwood marquetry, inlaid brass stringing, and cast gilt-bronze or ormolu mounts.

Authentic pieces exhibit period construction methods such as hand-cut dovetails, timber shrinkage consistent with age, hand-polished shellac finishes, and traditional hand-blown or cylinder glass panes with natural imperfections in curved side doors.

An antique credenza serves as a striking focal point in modern spaces when paired with minimalist surroundings, clean-lined contemporary art above, and carefully curated display objects inside to balance historical gravitas with modern simplicity.

Preserve the wood by keeping the piece away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent veneer cracking, maintaining stable indoor humidity levels, and occasionally applying pure beeswax rather than modern silicone polishes.
