Fine Meshed Rug, East Persia, Circa 1910, 2.20m X 1.34m

As well as having their own design repertoire, antique Meshed rugs from the 19th century and early 20th century have a unique blend of colours which identifies them. This rug has many of those characteristics. The wool is very fine and silky while the purple background is very typical of Meshed rugs. The classic medallion design is elegant but restrained. Note the matching repeat floral border. This piece is in excellent condition, clean and ready for immediate use.
