This is a rare 17th century Portugese cup hilt flamberge sword from 1680

This is a large forged sword with a wide serrated blade and has a castellated iron cup, 17cm wide pointed wings and a simple decorated

knuckle guard and pommel.

The wooden grip is bound with twisted wire.

The blade has seven lugs either side and is dated MDCXXX (1680) in Roman numerals

The total length of the sword is approx 122cm or 48 Inches.
